Professional Dry Ice Blasting
Transform your surface preparation process with our eco-friendly, non abrasive mobile dry ice blasting services, designed to provide efficient, safe surface renewal without harsh chemicals or leftover waste.
The Advantages of Dry Ice Blasting for Any Cleaning Application
Dry ice blasting is an advanced method that removes contaminants without causing damage to surfaces. Using compressed air to propel solid CO₂ particles at high speeds, the process lifts dirt, grease, paint and coatings while helping protect the underlying material. With the material ejected through a specialist dry ice blaster, only the dirt is released; dislodged dirt falls away while it sublimates into gas, resulting in a completely dry ice cleaning finish with no secondary waste.
Why Choose Dry Ice Blasting?
- Dry Ice Cleaning:
Effectively removes tough contaminants without damaging surfaces, making dry ice blasting safe for delicate materials, metal components, timber and precision equipment. - Dry Ice Pellets:
No water, harsh chemicals or abrasive grit are required, creating chemical free cleaning that helps avoid toxic or harmful vapours. - Mobile Dry Ice Blasting:
Clean machinery, tools and components in place, reducing downtime and supporting machine construction deep cleans where disassembly is impractical. - Residue-Free Results:
Unlike sand, soda blasting or traditional methods, dry ice sublimates on impact, so secondary waste is reduced, fast cleanup is easier and no spent material remains. - Dry Ice Blasters:

EXCELLENT Based on 8 reviews Posted on SteveTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As a digital printer and ink supplier and manufacturer, we had a specialist application that required testing before we went ahead with the blasting itself. This was no problem for Grandsen and we received test results quickly. When it came to the visit itself, it was done at the weekend so it we wouldn't interfere with our business operations. Very happy with the results and the service.Posted on Steve WallerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot rate this company enough! I live in a Grade II Listed property and needed the beams striipped back from being painted black in both the dining room and kitchen. I was pre-warned about the amount of dust that is produced but it is far less clearing up than traditional sand blasting. Also, sand blasting would have taken a lot more of the beams away as some of them were in very poor condition once the paint was removed. But, be aware....... This process still produces a LOT of dust and you will not be able to stop it spreading around the rest of your property. I was prepared for this but even I was surprised how much and how far it spread! Things to note: Only get this done if you are prepared to put up with a LOT of mess. Don't expect the beams to be in perfect condition once they have completed. Some may be rotten, full of filler or may just not look that great. You will need to give the beams some TLC afterwards. I sanded a lot of them down and had to reshape others. Expect to do some making good and filling to the walls and ceilings around the beams. For us, the end product was definitely worth the upheaval as the removal of the black paint has certainly brightened up the rooms. Final shout out goes to the guys who carried out the works who were helpful and friendly.Posted on Nicholas MillsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dry Ice FAQ's
What is dry ice blasting?
Dry ice blasting propels solid CO₂ particles with compressed air. On impact, the material sublimates into dry ice snow before turning straight to gas, so there’s no secondary blasting medium left behind—just the contaminant removed by the process. It’s non abrasive, dry and produces a clean finish without water.
What surfaces can you clean?
A wide range: historic timber beams, brickwork and masonry, industrial machinery, marine hulls/propellers, automotive components, suspension sections, underbodies, engine bay surfaces and more. Sector pages on your site also cover production, aviation, fire damage work, vehicle cleaning and industrial applications.
Will it damage historic beams or delicate features?
No, dry ice blasting is gentle compared with sand or grit blasting and is routinely used on listed buildings, fine mouldings and wood to lift varnish, paint and grime without scouring the substrate.
Is there much mess to clean up?
Our mobile ice blasting services require very minimal cleanup. Because the CO₂ material vaporises on contact, there’s no water or grit to sweep up—just the removed coating or soiling. That’s one reason this method reduces shutdown time on industrial sites and buildings.
Can you work indoors and around electrics?
Yes. The dry ice process is dry, non conductive and leaves no water or chemical trace, so it’s suitable for indoor spaces and sensitive electrical or mechanical components where wet methods aren’t appropriate.
Do you clean food-production equipment?
Yes. Dry ice blasting helps factories keep equipment audit-ready by removing baked-on residues in situ, without added chemicals and with reduced downtime where safe cleaning is required.
Can you help with fire and smoke restoration?
Yes. Dry ice blasting removes char and soot staining from timber, wood and other surfaces, helping eliminate odours and protect the substrate without unnecessary damage.
What about automotive parts and underbodies?
It’s precise and mess-free for removing paint, loose surface rust, underseal and grime from car components, vehicle underbodies, suspension components, engine components and brackets, without soaking items or introducing abrasives that could damage them. It can also support corrosion removal where loose contamination needs controlled treatment.
Is it environmentally friendly?
Dry ice blasting uses no solvents or added chemicals. CO₂ particles sublimate, and the raw carbon dioxide produced for blasting is reclaimed from other processes; liquid CO₂ flows through production systems before forming the particles, so there’s no secondary waste to dispose of—only the contaminant removed.
Do you offer on-site service? What areas do you cover?
Yes, most of our work is mobile dry ice blasting at your premises. A complete safety system consisting of trained operators, controlled dry ice blasting equipment and careful site checks supports our mobile service across the UK. Please message us with your project details to confirm availability for your location.
Planning a Mobile Cleaning Visit
A mobile dry ice blasting visit works best when the work zone, access and project goal are clear before the team arrives. Gransden Ice Blasting can discuss the surface material, the contaminant, nearby equipment and any sensitive spots so the right dry ice blasters, air pressure and dry ice pellets can be matched to the job. Customers looking for UK support can use this planning stage to confirm whether a non abrasive method is suitable, how much time may be needed and what affects dry ice blasting cost or ice blasting cost.
Once the dry ice is ejected, it turns to gas on impact, so dislodged dirt falls away without added grit or water. That means only the dirt, coating, grease or remaining waste needs to be collected. It can help avoid the extra disposal stream that creates hazardous waste or corrosion risk on nearby metal surfaces.
For many customers, the benefits are practical control and a cleaner way to plan work. Machinery, moulds, frames, housings, vehicle components and plant sections can be assessed in place, with dry ice cleaning planned around access, ventilation and production needs.
Cleaning Specialist Equipment Safely
Dry ice cleaning is well suited to equipment where trapped deposits, water ingress or abrasive material would create extra risk. In plastic injection moulding plants, machine construction deep cleans can remove release agents, carbon build up and production grime from complex shapes without leaving soda blasting grit behind or making unnecessary disassembly the only option.
The same careful approach is useful for automotive dry ice blasting, fabrication equipment, packaging lines and electrical housings where a dry process matters. For a car, commercial vehicle or specialist vehicle, the process can remove grease, coatings and loose rust from the underbody, engine bay, engine components and guards while limiting disturbance to the underlying finish. Dry ice cleaners can target contamination on brackets, castings, guards and tooling, and the process does not rely on solvents, so there are no toxic or harmful vapours from the blasting material itself.
Dry ice and dry ice snow are usually made from captured liquid CO₂ flows, not raw carbon dioxide produced solely for cleaning. For businesses comparing ice blasting with wet washing or abrasive methods, this creates a practical solution for clean components, machinery, car assemblies, engine bays, underbody sections and surfaces with less mess to manage afterwards.
